P5 Math: Sack A and Sack B

Sack A and Sack B contained 10 1/2 kg of sand altogether. 3/7 of the sand from sack A was transferred into sack B. 1/6 of the sand from sack B was then transferred into sack A. Both sacks contained an equal mass of sand in the end. How many kilograms of sand were there in each sack at first ? Give your answers in mixed number ?

Solution:

With same method as Tank A and Tank B post in previous blog, we can solve it.

At first 7u + 3u = 10u = 10 1/2 or u = 21/20

Sack A = 7u = 147/20 = 7 7/20 kg
Sack B = 3u = 63 / 20 = 3 3/20 kg
