P5 Math: Tammy's apples and pears

Tammy bought some apples and pears. The number of apples to the number of pears is 2:1. An apple cost $1.50 and a pear cost $0.90. Tammy spent $936. How many pears did she buy ?

Answer:

Apple:Pear = 2:1
She bought 2 units of apples and 1 unit of pear.

Total she paid:
$1.50x2u + $0.90xu = $936
3.9u = 936, u  = 240 (calculator is allowed).

Or, change money unit to cents
150c x2u + 90c x u = 93600c
390u = 93600

Number of pears = u = 240.
